A dedicated mother of seven and a loving and caring grandmother of ten, it is in her painting that Marisa finds time to express her individuality.
Born and raised in the hustle and bustle of São Paulo, she has moved - more than thirty years ago - to the bucolic Vinhedo, not more than 50 miles away from the great metropolis. There, amidst lots of trees, grass, flowers, birds and butterflies, domestic and wild animals, she found her sanctuary, where to put her atelier. This scenery, along with her family has been a non-ending source of inspiration.
Intensive and extensive travelling throughout the Americas and Europe have complemented her formation: the wonders of the American National Parks, the magnificent Canadian lakes, the quaint small villages from Tuscany or Provence, all have been captured by her paints, along with the glories of Paris, the history of Rome, the movement and life of New York.
Although she has been educated in several techniques and styles, it was in the Impressionism that she found herself. Monet, evidently, as well as Manet, Van Gogh, Cézanne, all have a special place in her heart.
Along the years, she has received orientation from the likes of Jimmy Wilcox, in his Jackson Hole/Wyoming academy, Elenice Menegon – a disciple of Aldo Cardarelli - Álvaro Lima, Pedro Gava and other artists of renown. She has also been part of the “Grupo Araucária”, a group of painters from Campinas, for 25 years.
Her works are now spread in many places, in Brasil, some in Europe, some in the U.S., where she won – amongst more than 1000 entries from all over the world - the Patron’s Choice Award, in the 1994 Mystic Maritime Exposition, in Mystic, Connecticut.
Marisa has also dedicated herself to teaching, in her Atelier, in classes organized by Pincéis Tigre and, specially, in the art classes organized by the Faculty of Arts of the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation, in São Paulo.
When asked where she finds the time and energy for all this, Marisa says: I feel that my art is as much a part of me as my care for family and friends; sometimes I get so involved that I find difficult to part with it, and balance it all… but, in the end, I really find an equilibrium that fills my life with peace and joy.
Marisa continuously receives commissions for special works, in addition to the works of her choice.
Adjoining her Atelier, in Vinhedo, she maintains a gallery with her current production, where visitors are always welcome and where she organizes occasional workshops. A small sample of her works is shown in these pages.
